LA CivicSpace is a regional platform supported by an ecology of users, from both the public and private sectors. This environment enables us to build communities and networks both online and offline that can communicate effectively, act collectively, and coordinate coherently with networks of other communities, organizations and individuals. LA CivicSpace enables bottom-up people-powered campaigns to operate on a more level playing field with more traditional top-down organizations, and, similarly, enables top-down organizations to develop, establish, maintain and refine inclusive relationships with local grassroots organizations and communities.

American Democracy Mocked At Republican Convention

Submitted by News Desk on Wed, 2008-09-03 03:59.

I didn't plan on responding to what I heard from the republican convention last night (September 3, 2008) until it was all over.  But if you saw what I saw you know that it demands a multilateral response.

We witnessed McCain's attack squad of negative, cynical politicians insult the very core of American democracy. They lied about Obama and Biden, and they attacked every day, average Americans for wanting something better for America and being a part of the democratic campaign.

But worst of all -- and this deserves to be noted -- they insulted the very idea that ordinary people have a role to play in American political process.

New Version Release: eXe (eLearning XHTML Editor Project)

Submitted by News Desk on Tue, 2008-02-19 12:29.

Release Date: 2008-06-04 17:36
Summary: eXe 1.04 Release!
Project: eXe (eLearning XHTML Editor Project)
Today's release of Version 1.04 of the eLearning XHTML editor is a milestone for the project.  This marks a functionally complete, easy-to-use authoring tool that allows teachers and academics to put their resources online in standard formats without having to learn the details of web and package formats.  We are revising the manual to include more and more tips illustrating what we think are the best ways to get the most out of eXe.  And, as always, the release notes list all of the recent changes.

We offer our sincere thanks to the many volunteer translators, authors, testers, and users that have contributed to the community to make eXe better.  Your participation and dedicated work has been crucial to the project's success.  We really enjoy working with the community.

But this is not the end of the line.  We've got a few ideas...  And of course we will be here to support the community and to resolve issues that may come up.  We hope to involve the community more and more in sustaining the support, development, and growth of eXe.
